La Queerencia is a new regular queer tango event happening
every second Saturday of the month. The name is a wordplay on queer and the Spanish la querencia — a word often used in literature to describe a place where you feel safe, at home, and truly yourself. That is what we hope La Queerencia can become: a space where you feel safe to be yourself, play with different ways to tango, and discover what feels right for you on the dance floor. The queer tango party, called milonga, starts at 20:00. And at 18:30, we’ll have a taster class for anyone who’d like to try tango for the first time. We’ll focus on changing roles and exploring how tango feels from different sides of the embrace. No previous experience or registration is required, and the milonga is included in the price. To make La Queerencia as accessible as possible, we introduced a self-assessed contribution system: choose €5, €10, or €15, depending on what feels manageable for you right now. €10 is our suggested contribution, while choosing €15 helps us keep the €5 option available for those who need it. The same contribution system applies to the taster class. There’s no need to explain or justify your choice — simply choose the amount that works for you. La Queerencia is first and foremost a space for queer people. At the same time, we warmly welcome anyone who is curious about queer tango and can help us create a respectful and inclusive space.
